Position Summary
The Audiology Technician supports the Audiology Department by assisting with diagnostic testing, hearing aid services, patient education, administrative activities, and daily clinic operations. Working under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist, this role helps ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, exceptional patient experiences, and high-quality hearing healthcare services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, organized, and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care & Audiology Support
- Assist licensed Audiologists with hearing evaluations and diagnostic procedures for patients of all ages.
- Perform hearing screenings and other delegated audiology services in accordance with applicable regulations and supervision requirements.
- Use an otoscope to inspect the ear canal and tympanic membrane for cerumen, debris, or foreign bodies.
- Prepare patients for testing and explain procedures in a professional and reassuring manner.
- Make ear mold impressions for hearing aids, custom earmolds, swim molds, hearing protection devices, and other audiological products.
- Assist with hearing aid fittings, programming support, troubleshooting, maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs as directed.
- Provide patient education regarding hearing aid care, usage, and maintenance.
- Support follow-up appointments and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Accurately enter patient information, test results, and clinical documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Generate reports and documentation as needed to support patient care and practice operations.
- Schedule appointments and assist with patient communications when necessary.
- Monitor, order, and maintain inventory of hearing aids, earmolds, batteries, supplies, and audiology equipment.
- Ensure patient records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
- Assist with maintaining audiology equipment and coordinating repairs or service when needed.
Team & Professional Responsibilities
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with providers, clinical staff, and administrative personnel.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and maintain productivity in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Participate in department meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities.
- Maintain any required certifications and competencies necessary for the position.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Audiology Assistant or Audiology Technician training program preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience in audiology, hearing healthcare, ENT, medical office, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience working with hearing aids, diagnostic equipment, or patient testing procedures preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to assist patients and handle audiology equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, testing equipment, and hearing aid devices.
